Bindhi – Australian Kelpi/Border Collie Cross – 6 years old
Bindhi has come to Three Counties because she was escaping from her previous owners garden. Three Counties were are not surprised about this because the Australian Kelpi has to be about the most intelligent dog there is. They are quite unique.
If you are looking for a dog for first time then you should stop reading now. Bindhi needs a family who have experience of this sort of breed.
Bindhi is a super clever girl and she’s always on the look out for things to do. She is an on the go girl who lives life to the full! Bindhi is bursting with agility potential and in the right home she is going to absolutely shine. Bindhi will never ever tire of being given jobs.
Bindhi is not a “two walks a day and you’re done dog”. She’s going to need more from people who really want to be actively involved in their dogs life.
If you’re thinking that Bindhi is an unusual name that’s because it’s actually native Australia and not often heard hear.
Kelpi’s, like Collies are herding dogs and extremely hardy and they have amazing stamina. Kelpi’s are known for climbing on top of tightly herded sheep. So an agility course with climbing objects to satisfy that urge in a back garden would suit her down to the ground, however don’t place it next to a fence because she will be off and out to find another job 😉
Kelpi’s love people and can be affectionate however they are also known for being very independent especially when they know their taught role in life. Kelpi’s are known for getting on with the job in hand with little to no supervision.
At Three Counties we have 60 dogs at any one time to look after which means that Bindhi doesn’t always get the stimulation that she needs. So finding that perfect home is very important and it’s really needed quite soon. Bindhi knows her basic commands but she has the capacity to do so much more. Don’t let Bindhi’s age put you off, a clever dog is a clever dog!
When Bindhi’s new family come to meet her they will initially think she has ants in her pants. That’s because she just needs time and channelling to hone in her incredible ability.
Bindhi will not thrive in a home where she is left for long periods so she needs an active family who are good at making her think and channelling her activity. Bindhi will require a garden with 6 foot security or higher. She is exceptionally agile.
Bindhi will do better as the only dog in the family. A lot of other dogs don’t cope well with Bindhi because she is full on. We have no cat history.
If there are children in the family they will need to be 12 plus and very dog savvy.
We re-home in a 50 mile drive of Bourne Lincs. Appointment only.
